Even through it's numerous iterations this space has always retained the title of the 「EBD」. I live in the unfinished attic of a half-built house where it's sometimes too hot though more often too cold. I told my dad we didn't need to paint the walls because I would be covering them up with posters of anime girls instead. As lazy as this renovation project was, this space nevertheless a perfection of what me and my seventeen-year-old Genshiken-obsessed self could only dream of creating. Here is my personal archive of oddities and otaku goods.
Computer space: I have one modern gaming PC (5800x, 3070ti etc.) and the other was my old rig (i7-4770k, GTX 1660 Super) that was supposed to be retired but persists thanks to a recent GPU "upgrade." My old PC still is my do-everything media consuming machine with ~32TB of storage. I used to have three monitors but recently upgraded in favor of a 42" LG C3 OLED TV (not setup yet in this pic). As of writing I only have dual 1440p monitors setup. My Switch and PS4 and also connected to the TV.
This is the section that has evolved the most after recording my room tour video. I organized a ton of cables behind the scenes, packed up the old monitors, and generally cleaned up my desk a lot.
I never have been much of a console gamer but am nevertheless deeply fascinated by the technology side of things, and have collected a lot of old hardware to mess around with- mainly modding and repairs but also some actual use. I don't use these systems as much as I'd like but whenever I have the urge I'll connect one to my CRT and play some classic games. My favorite game systems (in order) are: DS/3DS, PS3, PS2, PSP, Dreamcast, GBA.
Current collection of anime. I primarily collect DVD's by virtue of the specific era I'm interested in, though recently I started to branch out to get other more "novelty" formats, like VHS and Sony's UMD format. Most were purchased second-hand over the course of a few years with the bulk of the Blu-ray's being purchased from Sentai Filmworks whenever they run a sale.
This is my current colleciton of too-much-manga (and light novels etc.) organized within too-little-shelf-space. The vast majority of this was purchased steeply discounted at second-hand shops since I rarely read ongoing titles. There are plenty of Japanese titles as well; initially I purchased them for the novelty but eventually started seeking certain titles out with the intention to read them in the original langauge as my Japanese skills improved. I used to read more light novels but now it's mostly just manga.
Magazines might be my favorite thing to collect. The graphic design of certain eras (specifically 1999-2009) is rather charming. About half of these magazines were purchase in Mandarake Nakano and Akihabara during my first two trips to Japan. The rest were purchased on eBay or imported from Amazon Japan.
This is where I sleep. The bed also doubles as a lounging area since I prop myself up with a few pillows and watch anime or play PS4 on the TV. I swear, I picked that Vizio TV off the side of the road and it's the best piece of tech I own. It has quite possibly every input an insane person like myself needs: HDMI, VGA, DVI, composite, component and S-Video.
This is my Thinkpad x220 that I've used pretty much everyday for seven years; mostly used for watching anime, watching youtube, and screwing around with scripts. Currently running Debian.
